Basingstoke Bison

Flames and Phoenix - a fiery weekend in store for the Bison!

Basingstoke Bison welcome league neighbours the Guildford Flames to the Planet Ice Arena on Saturday 28th November. Face off is at 18:30 as usual. The Flames come to Basingstoke with some momentum after a 9-2 win against Swindon Wildcats having just broken a run of three game losses. Bison aim to charge them down and take two points from them. Match day ticket prices are : Adult £9.90, Child £5.50, Concessions £7.00 and Family of 4 (2 Adults & 2 Children) £24.80. Call for tickets on 01256 355266.

This Saturday is the Annual Teddy Bear Toss, a popular Christmas season event throughout hockey leagues around the world where fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears to the game and throw them onto the ice when the home team scores the first goal. The toys are then gathered up to be donated as Christmas presents to hospitals or charities. This years teddy bears will be donated to the Bison's favourite charity, Naomi House Children's Hospice. Please ensure that your teddy carries a CE mark and is wrapped in a plastic bag for hygiene reasons.

Bison travel north on Sunday to the Altrincham Ice Dome in Manchester for an encounter with current league leaders Manchester Phoenix. The Phoenix crashed and burned 8-3 in Romford last Saturday and they will no doubt still be smarting from that result. The Phoenix are a formidable force with arguably the best ever British hockey player Tony Hand, ex-NHL star Ed Courtenay and ex-Elite League tough guy Andre Payette to contend with not to mention Home advantage. Tickets are available online from the Manchester Phoenix website or on the door at the rink but be aware that there are additional charges for buying online and for using a credit or debit card on the day. Face off is at 17:30.
